Fitch shifts GM view to positive

Fitch Ratings said it revised its outlook for General Motors Co., General Motors Financial Co. Inc. and General Motors Financial of Canada, Ltd. to positive from stable and affirmed their BBB- issuer and senior unsecured ratings.

“The revision of GM's rating outlook to positive reflects improvements in the company's profitability and FCF generation that Fitch expects will lead to margins and credit protection metrics that are in-line with its positive rating sensitivities over the intermediate term. Although Fitch expects supply chain and inflationary pressures to continue for much of 2022, which will lead to some moderation in margins versus the strong levels seen in 2021, Fitch nonetheless expects GM's profitability to remain solid over the intermediate term,” the agency said in a press release.
