S&P affirms GE

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed the AAA long-term and A-1+ short-term corporate credit ratings on General Electric Co. and on General Electric Capital Corp. and the A-1+ short-term rating on General Electric Capital Services Inc.

The outlook is stable.

Ratings on GE Capital reflect its strategic importance to GE.

S&P said the affirmation follows the parent GE's downward revision in earnings guidance for the current quarter ending Sept. 30, stemming mainly from weaker-than-expected results at financial services subsidiary GE Capital.

Ratings reflect the company's excellent business risk profile, the minimally leveraged balance sheet for its industrial operations, its significant cash flow and liquidity, its strong corporate governance and management's commitment to maintaining the highest credit quality, according to the agency.
