S&P ups GATX view to positive

Standard & Poor's said it revised its outlook on GATX Corp. and subsidiary GATX Financial Corp. to positive from stable and affirmed the BBB- corporate credit rating on both entities.

S&P said the outlook revision reflected GATX's improving earnings and debt reduction, which have resulted in a modest improvement in its credit ratios. With sustained increases in lease rates for both railcars and aircraft due to strengthening demand, the company's credit profile is expected to continue to benefit from this trend over the intermediate term, which could result in a ratings upgrade.
