By Paul A. Harris

Portland, Ore., March 16 – Gartner, Inc. talked its $600 million offering of eight-year senior notes (B1/BB-) to yield in the 5¼% area, according to a syndicate source.

Books close at 1 p.m. ET Thursday and the Rule 144A and Regulation S for life offering is set to price subsequently.

Goldman Sachs & Co. is the left bookrunner. J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, Citizens, TD Securities, US Bank and Wells Fargo Securities LLC are the joint bookrunners.

The notes come with three years of call protection.

The Stamford, Conn.-based information technology research and advisory company plans to use the proceeds to help fund its acquisition of CEB Inc.
