Garlock asbestos committee wants later hearing on disclosure statement

By Kali Hays

New York, July 28 – Garlock Sealing Technologies, LLC’s official committee of asbestos personal injury claimants is seeking an adjournment of the company’s hearing for approval of its amended disclosure statement, according to a Monday motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina.

The hearing is scheduled for Aug. 21, but the committee asked that it be pushed back to Oct. 7 as the current date “poses a significant hardship for lead counsel for the committee.”

In conjunction with the proposed hearing adjournment, the committee also asked that the objection deadline for the disclosure statement be extended through Aug. 14 from Aug. 7.

As previously reported, the hearing was originally scheduled to take place July 24.

Garlock is a subsidiary of Charlotte, N.C.-based EnPro Industries Inc., which makes sealing products, bearings, compressors and engines. Garlock filed for bankruptcy on June 5, 2010, and its Chapter 11 case number is 10-31607.
