Garlock Sealing receives more time to file plan, solicit support

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Aug. 27 - Garlock Sealing Technologies LLC received a 180-day extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina.

The company's exclusive plan-filing period was extended to April 1, 2011 from Oct. 3 and the solicitation period to May 31, 2011 from Dec. 2.

In making its request, Garlock said it has moved "to define the pathway for resolution of its asbestos litigation" and will propose a plan in which it will "create a post-confirmation trust to process and resolve all legitimate asbestos claims."

Garlock also cited the size and complexity of its cases.

Garlock is a subsidiary of Charlotte, N.C.-based EnPro Industries, Inc., which makes sealing products, bearings, compressors and engines. Garlock filed for bankruptcy on June 5, and its Chapter 11 case number is 10-31607.
