Moody’s gives Ba3 to Gabon

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned local and foreign-currency issuer ratings of Ba3 to the government of the Republic of Gabon.

The outlook is stable.

Moody’s said the key credit strengths underpinning the Ba3 rating of the Republic of Gabon include: (a) robust growth prospect; (b) strong government balance sheet; and (c) reduced external vulnerability afforded by its membership of the CFA franc zone.

These are balanced by credit constraints that include: (a) the high reliance on the oil sector for growth; revenues and exports; (b) low economic governance indicators; and (c) socio-economic disparities.
