New York Fed buys $1.5 billion agency-issued notes under purchase program

Chicago, March 9 - The Federal Reserve Bank of New York accepted $1.5 billion of agency-issued securities at par from $5.52 billion of 34 series submitted in its open-market operations, according to its web site.

The settlement date is March 10.

The New York Fed said its current program to purchase direct obligations from housing-related government-sponsored enterprises is intended to reduce the cost and increase the availability of credit for the purchase of homes.

Fannie Mae notes

The New York Fed purchased the following notes issued by Fannie Mae:

• $201 million 5% notes due Feb. 16, 2012;

• None of the 0.875% notes due Jan. 12, 2012;

• $148 million 2% notes due Jan. 9, 2012;

• $15 million 1% notes due Nov. 23, 2011;

• None of the 5.375% notes due Nov. 15, 2011;

• None of the 5% notes due Oct. 15, 2011;

• None of the 3.625% notes due Aug. 15, 2011;

• None of the 3.375% notes due May 19, 2011;

• $10 million 1.375% notes due April 28, 2011;

• $15 million 6% notes due May 15, 2011;

• None of the 2.75% notes due April 11, 2011;

• None of the 5.125% notes due April 15, 2011; and

• $10 million 5.5% notes due March 15, 2011.

Freddie Mac notes

The New York Fed purchased the following notes issued by Freddie Mac:

• None of the 4.75% notes due March 5, 2012;

• None of the 5.75% notes due Jan. 15, 2012;

• $50 million 1.125% notes due Dec. 15, 2011;

• None of the 5.5% notes due Sept. 15, 2011;

• None of the 5.25% notes due July 18, 2011;

• $147 million 3.875% notes due June 29, 2011;

• $152 million 6% notes due June 15, 2011;

• None of the 5.625% notes due March 15, 2011;

• None of the 2.75% notes due April 11, 2011;

• $6 million 5.125% notes due April 18, 2011; and

• $435 million 1.625% notes due April 26, 2011.

FHLB notes

The New York Fed purchased the following notes issued by the Federal Home Loan Banks:

• None of the 1% notes due Dec. 28, 2011;

• $17 million 4.875% notes due Nov. 18, 2011;

• None of the 3.625% notes due Sept. 16, 2011;

• None of the 5.375% notes due Aug. 19, 2011;

• None of the 1.625% notes due July 27, 2011;

• $2 million 3.625% notes due July 1, 2011;

• $116 million 3.375% notes due June 24, 2011;

• None of the 2.625% notes due May 20, 2011;

• None of the 1.375% notes due May 16, 2011; and

• $150 million 1.625% notes due March 16, 2011.
