Fitch gives Allegheny Energy loan BBB-

Fitch Ratings said it assigned a BBB- rating to the senior unsecured revolving credit facility at each of the following issuers: Allegheny Energy, Inc., the Potomac Edison Co. d/b/a Allegheny Power and West Penn Power Co. d/b/a Allegheny Power.

According to the agency, the outlook on Allegheny is positive, reflecting the company's pending merger with FirstEnergy Corp. (issuer default rating BBB; stable outlook).

Fitch said it currently expects to equalize the ratings of Allegheny and FirstEnergy at FirstEnergy's rating level if the merger occurs as planned.

The outlook is stable.
