Exide Technologies shows larger January operating loss of $5 million

New York, Feb. 20 – Exide Technologies, Inc. posted an operating loss of $5.06 million in January on net sales of $77.09 million, according to its monthly operating report filed Feb. 20 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

In December, the company reported an operating loss of $2.22 million on net sales of $86.04 million.

Exide’s net loss for January was $27.97 million, widening from $24.05 million in December.

The company also reported $472,000 in cash and cash equivalents as of Jan. 31, dropping from $4.33 million as of Dec. 31.

Exide Technologies, a Milton, Ga.-based maker and recycler of lead-acid batteries, filed for bankruptcy on June 10, 2013. Its Chapter 11 case number is 13-11482.
