Exide posts August operating loss of $3.5 million, $77 million in sales

New York, Sept. 19 – Exide Technologies, Inc. reported an operating loss of $3.45 million for August on net sales of $77.19 million, according to its monthly operating report filed Sept. 19 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Those numbers compare to an operating loss of $2.77 million for July on net sales of $82.15 million.

The net loss for August was $29.55 million, up from $26.82 million in July.

Exide also reported $27.43 million in cash and cash equivalents as of Aug. 31, jumping up from $528,000 at July 31.

Exide Technologies, a Milton, Ga.-based maker and recycler of lead-acid batteries, filed for bankruptcy on June 10, 2013. Its Chapter 11 case number is 13-11482.
