Exide Technologies sees operating loss shrink to $5.16 million in May

Pittsburgh, June 17 – Exide Technologies, Inc. reported a $5.16 million operating loss for May on net sales of $91.09 million, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Those numbers compare to a $7.25 million operating loss posted for April on net sales of $92.43 million.

The net loss for May was $25.36 million, widening from a $22.02 million April net loss.

The company also reported cash and cash equivalents of $2.27 million as of May 31, down from $12.79 million at the end of April.

Exide Technologies, a Milton, Ga.-based maker and recycler of lead-acid batteries, filed for bankruptcy on June 10, 2013. Its Chapter 11 case number is 13-11482.
