Exide operating loss shrinks to $201,000 for October; sales decline

Wilmington, Del., Nov. 21 - Exide Technologies Inc. posted an operating loss of $201,000 for October on net sales of $97.12 million, according to the company's monthly operating report filed Nov. 20 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
Those figures compare to a $1.13 million operating loss for September on $120.95 million in net sales.
The net loss for October was $12.12 million, compared to a $3.59 million net loss for September.
The company also reported cash and cash equivalents of $9.51 million as of Oct. 31, down from $33.35 million at the end of September.
Exide Technologies, a Milton, Ga.-based maker and recycler of lead-acid batteries, filed for bankruptcy on June 10. Its Chapter 11 case number is 13-11482.
