Wells Fargo cuts stake to less than 5% in Exide Technologies

Philadelphia, Dec. 19 - Wells Fargo & Co. slashed its investment to less than 5% in Exide Technologies, Inc. as of Nov. 30, according to an SC 13G/A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Those holdings are down from the passive stake of 5.42%, or 4,076,788 shares, that the company reported owning on Dec. 31, 2007.

According to other SC 13G/A filings:

• On Dec. 13, 2006, Wells Fargo reported a passive stake of 7.73%, or 4,695,074 shares; and

• On March 31, 2006, it reported a passive stake of 10.48%, or 2,571,500 shares.

Exide is an Alpharetta, Ga., manufacturer and supplier of lead-acid batteries used in transportation, motive power, network power and military applications.
