Exide Technologies files $500 million shelf registration

Des Moines, March 30 - Exide Technologies Inc. filed a $500 million shelf registration in an S-3 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common stock, preferred stock, rights, warrants, depositary shares, purchase contracts, units and debt securities. Securities may be structured as convertibles.

The company did not specify how it would use the proceeds.

Based in Alpharetta, Ga., Exide makes lead-acid batteries.
