Evergreen Solar wins exclusivity extension to sell additional assets

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Dec. 8 - Evergreen Solar, Inc. obtained an extension to its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The filing period was extended to March 14 from Dec. 13 and the solicitation period to May 14 from Feb. 11.

Evergreen said it will use the extra time to conduct additional asset sales, including the sale of its Devens, Mass., factory and equipment. It will also decide whether to reject additional contracts and focus on winding down its business, according to court documents.

Evergreen Solar is a Marlboro, Mass.-based producer of solar power. The company filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 15 under Chapter 11 case number 11-12590.
