Entergy New Orleans granted 90-day exclusivity extensions

Pittsburgh, Jan. 5 - Entergy New Orleans, Inc. obtained extensions to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

The company's exclusive plan-filing period was extended to April 21 from Jan. 23 and the solicitation period was extended to June 20 from March 22.

The company said the extensions are warranted because of the size and complexity of its Chapter 11 case and that Hurricane Katrina "imposed myriad logistical and other complexities that sufficiently justify extension of the exclusivity periods."

Entergy New Orleans provides electric and natural gas service to customers in New Orleans and is the smallest of Entergy Corp.'s five utility companies. It filed for Chapter 11 on Sept. 23, and its case number is 05-17697.
