Entergy New Orleans requests 90-day exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Dec. 13 - Entergy New Orleans, Inc. requested an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

The company wants to extend its exclusive plan filing period to April 21 from Jan. 23 and the solicitation period to June 20, 2006 from March 22.

The company said the extension is warranted because of the size and complexity of its Chapter 11 case.

In addition, Entergy New Orleans said Hurricane Katrina "imposed myriad logistical and other complexities that sufficiently justify extension of the exclusivity periods."

Entergy New Orleans provides electric and natural gas service to customers in New Orleans and is the smallest of Entergy Corp.'s five utility companies. It filed for Chapter 11 on Sept. 23. Its case number is 05-17697.
