S&P: Entergy unchanged

Standard & Poor's said that damage from Hurricane Gustav will not affect Entergy's (BBB/negative) credit ratings at this time.

Entergy's system has experienced significant outages with about 825,000 customers not having power, and has also experienced significant damage with 191 transmission lines and 210 substations being out of service, the agency said.

S&P noted that the effect of the hurricane on Entergy's credit profile will depend on an assessment of the damage and restoration costs, the company's ability to restore service to customers and the level of responsiveness from state authorities, including regulators.
