Canada's Enerplus Resources to privately place $100 million of notes

St. Louis, May 8 - Enerplus Resources Fund intends to make a $100 million private placement of senior notes, according to a market source.

Pricing is expected during the May 11 week.

The Calgary, Alta.-based investment trust is viewed as an NAIC-2 issuer by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

The deal is expected to come in tranches of six-year notes and 12-year notes, with tranche sizes to be determined.

Citigroup is the placement agent.

Enerplus Resources Fund has exposure to oil and gas resources.
