By Sheri Kasprzak

New York, May 27 – The committee of unsecured creditors in Energy XXI’s bankruptcy case has applied to hire Latham & Watkins and Heller, Draper, Patrick, Horn & Dabney LLC as co-counsel, according to a motion filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

A hearing is scheduled for June 22 and, if approved, counsel will be retained retroactive to April 28.

Attorneys for Latham charge between $395 and $1,375 an hour and attorneys for Heller charge between $355 and $520 an hour.

Additionally, the committee is looking to appoint FTI Consulting, Inc. as its financial adviser.

Energy XXI, an independent oil and natural gas development and production company based in Houston, filed for bankruptcy on April 14 under Chapter 11 case number 16-31928.
