Energy Future committee to hire Morrison & Forester as legal counsel

By Kali Hays

New York, Sept. 16 – Energy Future Holdings Corp.’s official committee of unsecured creditors obtained court authorization to employ Morrison & Forester LLP as its lead legal counsel, according to a Sept. 16 order with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The hiring of Morrison is retroactive to May 12.

As previously reported, the committee selected Morrison based on the firm’s experience in bankruptcy-related restructurings and in practicing before the Delaware courts.

Morrison will assist the committee in negotiations with Energy Future, analyze any proposed plan or sale and represent it in court as necessary, according to the order.

Morrison attorneys associated with the case will be paid an hourly rate between $280 and $1,250.

Energy Future, a Dallas-based power generation company and utility operator, filed bankruptcy on April 29. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-10979.
