Energy Future gets bridge exclusivity extension; new hearing Sept. 16

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Aug. 11 – Energy Future Holdings Corp. received a bridge extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Specifically, the exclusive filing period was extended through Sept. 18 and the solicitation period through Nov. 18.

In July, the company requested a 180-day extension under which its exclusive plan-filing period would run through Feb. 23, 2015 and the solicitation period through April 25, 2015.

“The debtors will use the additional time provided by the extended exclusivity periods to continue working with their stakeholders with the goal of reaching agreement on a consensual restructuring transaction that maximizes value and permits an expeditious exit from Chapter 11,” the extension motion said.

According to Monday’s order, the hearing on the full extension has been adjourned to Sept. 16 to give parties in interest more time to discuss the request.

Energy Future, a Dallas-based power generation company and utility operator, filed bankruptcy on April 29. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-10979.
