Endo International mediation extended through end of May

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., April 25 – Endo International plc will continue mediating through May 31, according to an order filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

As previously reported, retired judge Shelley C. Chapman, who is acting as mediator, had asked for the extension.

Chapman said she continues to engage in active and ongoing negotiations with the mediation parties, in particular with those parties with whom a settlement has not yet been achieved.

Given the ongoing negotiations, Chapman believes it is in the best interest of all stakeholders to continue mediation through the end of May.

Prior to the filing of her latest status report, Chapman sought and obtained the written consent of each of the mediation parties for the extension.

Chapman had also requested that she would be authorized to extend the end date of the mediation to June 16 in her sole discretion. The court granted this request as well.

As previously reported, the company recently reached settlements through the mediation with the official committee of unsecured creditors and the official committee of opioid claimants, and now has their support for a restructuring deal that would allow for the sale to the first-lien lenders.

Endo is a Dublin, Ireland-based specialty pharmaceutical company that filed bankruptcy on Aug. 16, 2022. The Chapter 11 case number is 22-22549.
