S&P puts Aleris on watch

Standard & Poor's said it placed Aleris International Inc.'s B+ corporate credit rating on CreditWatch with negative implications.

The watch reflects the agency's assessment about the North American rolled and extruded products segment because of weaker demand for building and construction, distribution and transportation products, S&P said.

Also considered is increased debt due to an aggressive growth strategy over the past few years, the agency noted.
