S&P lowers Aleris

Standard & Poor's said it lowered the corporate credit rating on Aleris International Inc. to B from B+ on the company's debt by one notch. Ratings were placed on CreditWatch with negative implications.

The downgrade reflects weaker-than-expected third-quarter financial results as a result of lower volume and EBITDA due to challenging operating conditions reflecting weak end-market demand, according to the agency.
