El Pollo Loco $40 million discount notes price talk 12% area, to price Friday

St. Louis, March 25 - Price talk is in the area of 12% for El Pollo Loco/EPL Intermediate Inc.'s approximately $40 million proceeds of zero coupon for life senior discount notes (Caa1/CCC+) due 2010, according to an informed source.

The deal is expected to price on Friday.

Jefferies & Co. is the bookrunner on the Rule 144A offering.

The notes will come with three years of call protection.

Proceeds will be used to fund a dividend payment to stockholders.

The issuer is an Irvine, Calif., quick service restaurant chain operating predominantly in the Los Angeles area.
