By Aleesia Forni

Virginia Beach, Feb. 24 – Eli Lilly & Co. intends to sell a benchmark issue of notes in three parts, according to a market source and a 424B2 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The offering will include tranches due 2018, 2025 and 2045.

Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., Goldman Sachs & Co., Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC and BofA Merrill Lynch are the joint bookrunners.

Proceeds will be used to repay commercial paper issued in connection with the company’s acquisition of the animal health business of Novartis AG and for general corporate purposes.

The pharmaceutical company is based in Indianapolis.
