S&P: EDS unaffected

Standard & Poor's said Electronic Data Systems Corp.'s (BBB-/negative/--) announcement that it will extend the filing date for its SEC Form 10-K for the year ended Dec. 31, 2004 to allow the company and its independent auditor, KPMG, additional time to complete the assessment of the company's internal controls required for compliance with section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act will not have an impact on the ratings or outlook for EDS.

Companies are permitted under SEC rules to file for a 15-day extension to the 10-K deadline.

While EDS is unable to predict the outcome of this assessment, S&P said the company does not believe the outcome will impact its previously reported financial results.
