Moody's assigns DuPont notes A2

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned a rating of A2 to the recently proposed senior unsecured notes offering of E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. (A2 senior unsecured; Prime-1 commercial paper).

Proceeds from the offering proposed to be issued in a five year maturity will be used for general corporate purposes, which Moody's noted that it assumes will likely include repayment and refinancing of commercial paper and other debt.

Moody's said it also assigned prospective ratings to DuPont's shelf filing for debt securities, adding that DuPont's A2 senior unsecured debt ratings and Prime-1 commercial paper ratings are affirmed.

The outlook is stable.

According to the agency, DuPont's A2 and Prime-1 ratings reflect its sizeable standing as a leading science and technology company with strong positions in chemicals, polymers, specialty materials, and agricultural products.
