Eaton Vance Structured Emerging Markets to raise funds for investment

By Angela McDaniels

Tacoma, Wash., March 22 - Eaton Vance Structured Emerging Markets Premium Income Fund plans to offer common shares of beneficial interest, according to an N-2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The newly organized closed-end management investment company will use the proceeds to invest in a portfolio of common stocks of emerging markets issuers.

The fund also plans to sell on a continuous basis covered call options on the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets index fund, one or more other emerging markets exchange-traded funds and/or one or more emerging markets stock indexes.

Under normal market conditions, the fund will invest at least 80% of its assets in common stocks and up to 5% in ETFs, and at least 80% of the value of the fund's total assets will be subject to written call options.

The fund will apply to list the shares, which will be sold for $20 each, on the New York Stock Exchange.

Eaton Vance Management is the fund's investment adviser.
