Eaton Vance mulls merging two funds, names Metzold as portfolio manager

Chicago, Nov. 17 - Eaton Vance National Municipal Income Trust voted to recommend that shareholders approve a merger with Eaton Vance Municipal Income Trust at a shareholders meeting at 1:30 p.m. ET on March 27.

Shareholders also will be asked at the meeting to approve issuing common shares.

Eaton Vance also announced that Thomas M. Metzold will replace Cynthia J. Clemson as portfolio manager.

Metzold, a vice president of Eaton Vance Management, joined the firm in 1987 and has been a portfolio manager of various municipal bond funds since 1991.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Siena College and a Master of Business Adminstration degree from the State University of New York at Albany.

Eaton Vance Management, the funds' investment adviser, is a subsidiary of Eaton Vance Corp.
