Eaton Vance names new municipal bonds co-director, portfolio managers

Milwaukee, Feb. 19 - Eaton Vance Corp. has named Thomas M. Metzold co-director of municipal investments for Eaton Vance Management in Boston and has announced changes to the portfolio management of some of its municipal income closed-end funds.

Metzold joins Cynthia J. Clemson, who has been co-director of municipal investments since November 2005. Metzold is replacing Robert B. MacIntosh, who is leaving Eaton Vance to pursue other interests.

Metzold and Clemson are responsible for overseeing investment management, research, trading and administration for the municipal bond group. They report to Payson Swaffield, chief income investment officer of Eaton Vance Management.

While overseeing the group, Metzold and Clemson will maintain their individual fund management responsibilities. Metzold is portfolio manager of Eaton Vance National Municipal Income Fund and Eaton Vance Municipal Income Trust, as well as three state-specific municipal income mutual funds. He is also co-portfolio manager of Eaton Vance High-Yield Municipal Income Fund and Eaton Vance National Municipal Opportunities Trust. He joined Eaton Vance in 1987 as a high-yield municipal bond analyst covering the health care and hospital sectors and became a portfolio manager in 1991.

Clemson is portfolio manager of Eaton Vance AMT-Free Municipal Income Fund, as well as six state-specific municipal income mutual funds and three state-specific municipal closed-end funds. She also serves as co-portfolio manager of Eaton Vance High-Yield Municipal Income Fund, Eaton Vance National Municipal Opportunities Trust and Eaton Vance Build America Bond Fund.

Effective Friday, William H. Ahern Jr., a vice president of Eaton Vance, is the portfolio manager of Eaton Vance Municipal Bond Fund and other Eaton Vance municipal portfolios.

Craig R. Brandon is the portfolio manager of Eaton Vance Massachusetts Municipal Bond Fund and Eaton Vance Massachusetts Municipal Income Trust. Brandon is also a vice president of Eaton Vance and manages other Eaton Vance municipal portfolios.

Another vice president of Eaton Vance, Adam A. Weigold is the portfolio manager of Eaton Vance New Jersey Municipal Bond Fund, Eaton Vance New Jersey Municipal Income Trust and other Eaton Vance municipal portfolios.
