Eastwind Maritime trustee powers OK'd through June 30 amid wind-down

By Kali Hays

New York, March 26 - Eastwind Maritime Inc.'s chapter 7 trustee, Salvatore LaMonica, received an interim extension of his authority in the company's case through June 30, according to a March 26 order filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

As previously reported, LaMonica's authority was set to expire March 31.

According to the motion, the trustee requested the extension to ensure continued payment of certain expenses preserving the value of remaining company assets and "to accomplish a successful wind-down in a timely fashion."

Eastwind Maritime, a Marshall Islands-based shipping company, filed for bankruptcy on June 24, 2009. Its Chapter 7 case number is 09-14014.
