S&P lifts East West Bancorp view to stable

S&P said it revised the outlook on East West Bancorp Inc. and its subsidiary, East West Bank, to stable from negative.

The agency also said it affirmed the BBB long-term issuer credit rating on the East West Bancorp, the BBB+ long-term issuer credit rating on East West Bank and A-2 short-term issuer credit ratings.

The outlook revision reflects the company's continued strong earnings, solid asset quality and some improvement in its capital ratios, S&P said.

The prior negative outlook reflected the company's declining capital levels and rapid loan growth, the agency said.

But now, S&P said it has greater confidence that the company will maintain strong capital and earnings.
