Moody's: Duke Energy view stable

Moody's Investors Service said it changed to stable from positive the outlook on Duke Energy Corp. (Baa2) and several of its subsidiaries, including Duke Energy Carolinas (A3), Cinergy Corp. (Baa2), Duke Energy Ohio (Baa1) and Duke Energy Kentucky (Baa1).

Meanwhile, the outlook for Duke Energy Indiana (Baa1) remains stable.

The agency said the financial profile of Duke Energy and its rate-regulated utility subsidiary companies remains strong, but the outlook change reflects Duke Energy's substantial capital investment plans, its plan to finance those investments largely with debt and its non-regulated investments, which Moody's believes will be incrementally increasing over the intermediate term horizon.

The stable outlook for Cinergy, Duke Ohio, Duke Kentucky and Duke Indiana reflects the agency's expectations that the financial profile for those entities will also not improve, but will remain reasonably stable over the near- to intermediate-term horizon.
