By Paul A. Harris

St. Louis, Aug. 7 - Alaska Communications Systems Holdings starts the roadshow Friday for an offering of $175 million senior notes due 2011 (expected ratings B2/B+), according to a market source.

The deal is expected to price on Aug. 13 or 14, the source added.

Underwriters on the Rule 144A deal are JP Morgan, CIBC World Markets, Citigroup, Jefferies & Co. and Raymond James.

Proceeds from the eight-year non-call-four notes will be used to repay bank debt as part of a recapitalization.

The prospective issuer is an Anchorage, Alaska-based telecommunications company.
