Diana Shipping files automatic shelf registration covering debt, stock

Knoxville, Tenn., May 6 - Diana Shipping Inc. filed an automatic shelf registration in an F-3 ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common stock, preferred stock purchase rights, preferred stock, debt securities, warrants, purchase contracts and units.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

The sale proceeds will go toward vessel acquisitions and for capital expenditures, debt repayment, working capital and general corporate purposes.

The Athens, Greece-based company owns and operates dry bulk carriers that transport iron ore, coal, grain and other dry cargoes.
