Delta Air Lines' exclusivity extended to June 1

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, March 16 - Delta Air Lines, Inc. obtained a fourth extension of its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The company's exclusive periods were extended to June 1 from April 16.

According to the motion, Delta's exclusive plan-filing motion was set to expire on Feb. 15, but since the company filed a plan in December, it has until April 16 to exclusively solicit votes and file a plan.

As a result, the company said it requested the extension to allow it enough time to solicit plan votes and seek confirmation of the plan.

The plan confirmation hearing is scheduled for April 25, and Delta said its exclusivity would end after that if the extension was not granted.

Delta, an Atlanta-based airline, filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 14, 2005. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-17923.
