Credit Suisse to issue ProNotes linked to global index, exchange rate basket

By Angela McDaniels

Seattle, Sept. 20 - Credit Suisse (USA), Inc. plans to price an issue of 0% ProNotes due April 30, 2010 linked to a basket of global indexes and exchange rates, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The notes are expected to price sometime in October.

The basket will include the FTSE/Xinhua China 25 index, the Bovespa Brazil index, the S&P CNX Nifty index, the Brazilian real/dollar spot exchange rate and the Russian ruble/dollar spot exchange rate. The indexes will each have a 15% weight each and the exchange rates will each have a 27.5% weight.

If the final basket level is greater than the initial basket level, the payout at maturity will be par plus the return on the basket. The basket return will be multiplied by an additional percentage, which will be between 100% and 118% and will be determined at pricing.

If the final basket level is less than or equal to the initial level, the payout at maturity will be par.

Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC will be the underwriter.
