Fitch: AIG South Africa on watch

Fitch Ratings said it has placed AIG South Africa Ltd.'s and AIG Life South Africa Ltd.'s national insurer financial strength ratings of AAA(zaf) on rating Watch negative.

This follows Fitch's downgrade of American International Underwriters Overseas, Ltd.'s insurer financial strength rating to AA- from AA+ and its maintenance of the watch status.

Additional downgrades may affect the companies, the agency noted.
