Moody’s assigns A3 rating to AIA securities

Moody’s Investors Service said it assigned an A3 rating to the subordinated dated securities to be issued by AIA Group Ltd. under its subordinated medium-term note program, which Moody’s provisionally rates A3.

Claims on the notes would be junior to all senior creditor claims, the agency said.

The securities are intended to qualify as tier 2 capital under the group under Hong Kong’s group-wide supervisory framework when it takes effect.
