S&P assigns A- to Corning notes

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed its A- corporate credit rating on Corning Inc.

The outlook is stable.

The agency also assigned its A- rating to the company's proposed issuance of $750 million in senior unsecured notes, which it expects to issue in two tranches.

"The ratings on Corning reflect our view of the company's market-leading display business, expanding opportunities in more diversified end markets, strong liquidity, and relatively low leverage for the rating," S&P credit analyst David Tsui said in a news release.
