Continental Airlines issues 4.26 million shares for 4.5% note conversions

New York, Jan. 31 - Continental Airlines said it issued 4.26 million shares in exchange for about $170 million of its 4.5% convertible notes due Feb. 1, 2007.

Holders elected to convert their notes at a conversion price of $40.00 per share.

Continental's stock (NYSE: CAL) closed at $41.49 on Wednesday.

Houston-based Continental Airlines is the world's fifth largest airline.
