Moody’s might lift BBVA Compass

Moody's Investors Service said it placed on review for upgrade the long-term ratings and assessments of BBVA Compass Bancshares, Inc. and subsidiary Compass Bank.

The agency also placed on review for upgrade Compass Bank's Prime-2 short-term deposit rating.

Moody's affirmed the short-term counterparty risk assessment at Prime-2(cr).

“The review is driven by improvement in BBVA Compass' core deposit funding and capital position,” the agency said in a news release.

The review will consider the sustainability of BBVA Compass' improved core deposit funding in a rising rate environment amid renewed loan growth, Moody’s said.
