Communications Corp. of America granted bridge extension to exclusive plan-filing period

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Sept. 18 - Communications Corp. of America obtained a bridge extension to its exclusive period to file a plan of reorganization, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Louisiana.

The company's exclusive plan filing date was extended to Oct. 18 from Oct. 5, with the final hearing on the extension scheduled for Oct. 17.

The company wants to extend the exclusivity period to Jan. 15.

According to the motion, the extension is necessary because of the complexity of the Chapter 11 case.

The company said it has begun to formulate a plan of reorganization and is in negotiations with General Electric Capital Corp. and other creditors about the possibility of a consensual plan.

Communication Corp. of America, a Lafayette, La., television-station owner, filed for bankruptcy on June 7. Its Chapter 11 case number is 06-50410.
