Fitch rates ComEd bonds A

Fitch Ratings said it assigned an A rating to Commonwealth Edison Co.'s offering of $750 million first mortgage bonds issued in two tranches, series 132 due 2032 and series 133 due 2052.

The rating is consistent with ComEd’s other senior secured debt.

The proceeds will be used to repay commercial paper and for general corporate purposes. As of March 3, ComEd had about $406 million of commercial paper outstanding.

The outlook is stable.
