S&P affirms CFE

Standard & Poor's said that it affirmed Comision Federal De Electricidad SA's foreign-currency long-term corporate credit rating at BBB and long-term local-currency corporate credit rating at A.

The outlook is stable.

The ratings reflect the likelihood that the United Mexican States would provide timely and sufficient extraordinary support to the company in the event of financial distress, S&P said.

The stable outlook reflect the expectations that no major changes will be made that affect the company's autonomy or its links with the federal government, and that the company will continue to pursue the expansion of generation capacity and transmission systems, the agency said.
