S&P keeps Anthem, Cigna on watch

Standard & Poor's said it is keeping its ratings on Anthem Inc. and Cigna Corp. on CreditWatch Negative, where it originally placed them on June 21.

"Our ratings remain on CreditWatch Negative with ongoing 90-day reviews. The proposed merger transaction valued at $54 billion is awaiting both federal and various state regulatory approvals. We believe the transaction could close in the second half of 2016 if approved," S&P credit analyst Hema Singh said in a news release.
