Fitch upgrades Cigna

Fitch Ratings said it upgraded Cigna Corp.'s issuer default and senior unsecured debt ratings to BBB+ from BBB.

“Fitch's upgrade of Cigna's ratings reflects an improved company profile following the successful integration of Express Scripts Holding Co., which brought greater size and scale, as well as differentiated capabilities and material unregulated cash flows. Cigna's company profile has similar characteristics as other large peers with sizeable non-health insurance operations,” the agency said in a press release.

The outlook is stable.
